Workers Of Sri Lanka And India Volume 1
In India wallah translates as worker. If you drive a taxi, you are a taxi wallah. If you sell fruit, you are a fruit wallah. Dhobi wallah is a laundry worker and so on. The most recognized is the chai wallah, one who sells tea. Wallah is a Hindi word and I have not found an equivalent word used in the same way in Sri Lanka.
