Chuyi Liu was born and raised in an academically focused family in Guangzhou, China. Her mother is a statistics professor, and her father is a journalist working for the local TV station. Her family has an enthusiasm for knowledge and this atmosphere greatly influenced her. At the age of seventeen she came to the United States alone to pursue a college education. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Indiana State University in 2013. Chuyi encountered photography when she got her first DSLR at the age of twenty. She fell in love with the camera after realizing the world could be interpreted entirely different through different lenses, and it brought up her intense passion for photography. Chuyi has a special interest in shooting portraits. Her psychology background has helped her gain insight into promoting the positive side of humanity in her photograghs.
