About the Artist Birgie (Platz, Stoll, Ludlow) I was born in Flensburg, Germany as Birgit Platz in June 1947. My parents Karin and John Platz and brother Helmut and I immigrated to Canada in 1952. In 1965 while still a student at Ancaster High & Vocational School , Malcolm Gerner was my art teacher for 5 years) I enrolled in a correspondence course with Art Instruction Schools. It was this course that gave me the drive to perhaps pursue a career in the commercial art field. There were so many possible avenues to travel. My three dreams were Fashion Design or that of a Greeting Card Artist or perhaps even a Children’s Art Teacher. It is August 2019 and the dream of having a Gallery Gift Workshop called Birgie and friends at 4343 Queen St. in Niagara Falls , Canada is a reality. Dreams do come true, it's never too late. A special thank you to my husband and partner in all we do for helping me make this endeavor a reality. Took a lot of hard work, but well worth it.
