Acerca del libro
These photographs were inspired by an image I saw in a frame-maker shop. It was a simple black-and-white graphics, representing the top corners of two buildings facing each other. It was nothing more than a view of the two roofs and the sky above, however I found that image was telling me something. It was a story about the silent relationship between the two buildings, a forced liason over many years, well beyond people’s lives.
It was then that I realized that the city is full of stories and that who is really telling them are not people, but buildings, palaces, their windows and doors, their corners and roofs…
Sometimes it is possible to listen mysterious tales of solitude, love, arrogance or compassion; sometimes buildings talk with the sunlight, or with the clouds in the sky. In no occasion I have heard anything from the people, who only act as silent ghosts, wandering around the cities with nothing to say. I think that collecting such stories is the only way to narrate contemporary cities.
