Acerca del libro
The name Pinakamakapangyarihan is taken from the Tagalog word meaning "all-powerful." The author, a young man of 21, interprets such a word to mean "where self-identify begins, when all things seem intoxicatingly possible." For him, this means the ability to move forward after completing, in the Philippines, a two year mission for the Mormon Church. Returned, he arms himself with friends and chronicles a tame road trip to New Jersey, vibrant to him as he encounters literature, recreation, camaraderie, and the potency of play.
Pinakamakapangyarihan is a private piece, written a month after discovering Kerouac, where the author records the phenomena of liberated youth blessed with friends, limber commitment, and the realization that with his mission complete, the foundation of his life is laid. Upwards, he can now build his castles. At 21, the author builds a telescope for a future self to peer into his past, to see again when spring officially began in his life, and healthy things began to bloom. For him, the recollections are smooth, awkward, off-beat, and precious. For the reader, he or she will find ramblings of a colorful mind still seasoned with naivety, deserts of thick but nimble prose, parts drab, parts sunny, yet among the sand, a jewel of observation or private recollection that gives kaligtasan to the 178 pages.
