Rescue in the Gulf Stream is the second book in the Island Boy series, written by local author Bo Johnston. Described by the author as historical fiction, the stories center around two teenaged boys and their families, who live on an island in the Florida Keys. Their adventures always include diving, fishing and sailing. In this, second book, Cal and Doug set off to sail to the Dry Tortugas in 'Dreamer', Doug's twenty foot sailboat, barely escaping the dangerous, Rebecca Shoals, when they are caught on the open seas by a late season storm front. Battling high winds and huge seas they make a daring rescue, saving the life of a very special 'Coastie'..

Acerca del creador
Bo Johnston was raised in the Florida Keys in the 1950's. After college and serving in the US Navy, he returned to his island home where he taught middle and high school for 35 years. His love of the islands and sailing led him to write the first in the Island Boy series, Welcome Home island Boy, a book based on his experiences as a young boy, sailing the islands and Everglades with his best friend. He is now retired and has just finished the second book of the series, Rescue in the Gulf Stream.
