This book details each of the Canadian aces (pilots and gunners) who served in the First World War. The introductory text provides the strategic context and a perspective on the key characteristics that many of these aces exhibited. The technology, leadership and personal factors are each examined in detail. Appendix A then provides a short history on each of the aces including their honours and awards. Appendix B provides an alphabetical and numerical summary for each ace. Appendix C provides a summary of “ace” statistics and also details those who went on to very senior rank. Appendix D summarizes the types of honours and awards upon which most of these aces were bestowed. Appendix E then details the specifications for the various types of aircraft flown by these Canadian aces. The story of all of these courageous aviators deserves not to be forgotten in the mists of time!
