After 4 years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Zaire, Nick returned to the US where he gained a MS in Oceanography studying Marine Resources Management and the interface between humans and the ocean. Upon graduating from Oregon State University, he was contacted for his Zaire experience to work on a development project in the Democratic Republic of Congo. After 3 years in Congo and with a small family of wife and 2 month old daughter, he transferred to a new post in Timor-Leste. At the bottom edge of the coral triangle home to our planet's highest concentration of marine biodiversity, Timor-Leste reintroduced Nick to the marine realm. He taught himself to take digital photos of what he encountered on his dives and brought them home to show his wife and young daughter with the hopes of introducing them to the amazing world under the sea. During his 5 years in Timor-Leste Nick took many photos and solidified his interest in capturing the natural world with his camera.
