CAVEAT

This warning came last in the writing of my website drkroiss.com and my little book on math anxiety. Both took decades to write and tons of work and the shunning of opportunities.

The reason that this first announcement is the last in time is that I might be suspected of doing something, which I absolutely despise when I see it done by others, namely boasting. It really tortures me when I see professors, most of them conceited and not very smart, hail their achievements during commencement addresses presenting themselves as shiny examples to follow. I think that their former students should do everything but that.

Do you know, when a thing is seen as precious?

It is seen as precious if it is hard to get. A large, beautiful diamond is very hard to unearth. The same is true for the website and the book. It is about good reasoning, which is very hard to get. It was for me—and it still will be for you.
