In the new millennium, Cathy Harville traded her corporate attire for a painting apron, and pursued her dream of painting full time. After watching the commercial development of her childhood playgrounds – forests, fields, and streams – Cathy realized that the natural open spaces around us are in peril. As a result, her goal is to capture nature, before it is forever lost. Cathy paints her journeys as she explores places that are unknown, unseen, or forgotten. She has recorded nature at its finest in parks, refuges, swamps, beaches, and farms, including the historic USNA Dairy Farm. Cathy’s work has been exhibited in many venues in Maryland and New York, and her artwork hangs in homes and offices throughout the US. Her studio is located in Historic Savage Mill in Savage, MD. Cathy is also a member of several art leagues. She lives with her husband, Richard, and canine friend, Lucy, in Gambrills, MD. |

Change of the landscape is almost always forever. Clearing forests, paving in asphalt, and filling the earth with concrete occur all around us, every day. We are losing the natural beauty of our planet earth. In my paintings, I use bold color to express the beauty of nature. I invite viewers to share in the simple visual pleasures that nature freely gives us. My paintings invite the viewer to explore nature in a new way, with the use of unexpected colors, and simple compositions. |
