Acerca del creador
Jan Blencowe is a Connecticut landscape painter, and keen observer of nature who keeps a nature journal, and explores and documents her life through visual and illustrated mixed media journals. Her artistic process of combining art and the observation of the natural world began as a child during a young naturalists class at the Tackapausha Museum and Preserve in Seaford, New York, and continued through her studies at Caldwell College in New Jersey, where she earned her BFA. Today, her primary sources of inspiration are the salt marshes, upland fields and woods, and inland wetlands of the Connecticut shoreline. Her art is characterized by a deep spiritual connection to the land expressed through lively brushwork, rich earth colors and symbolic light in her paintings and a looseness and pulsing vitality in the line work and water-media techniques that enliven her sketches. Ms. Blencowe has recently been the recipient of an Award of Merit in the Salmugundi Club Works on Paper Exhibit
