Acerca del libro
All photos were taken in the 1950s by Robert Ward. This book is a tribute to the owner-operator. Owner-operators were and still are a special breed of trucker. They are independent, self-starters, and could even be called rebels. Some were successful, and some were not, but they all had one thing in common, they tried to make their mark in a tough industry. Four photo essays are included; Midwest Coast Transport, Frozen Food Express, Zero Refrigerated Lines, and the Refrigerated Div., Ringsby Truck Lines, along with numerous others. Also included is coverage of B. C. Fry, Cecil V. Fry, and Robert (Bob) E. Fry. The book features mostly black and white photos, with some color.

My husband, Dave drove truck in the U.S. for 40 years with over 3-million safe miles. He started taking photos of trucks as a young boy in the 1950s, inspired by his mother who took photos of his dad's trucks beginning in the late 1940s. He passed away in 2019. His wife survives.
