Okay, I admit it. Lots of times I don't want to make pictures, even (or especially) when I know I must - like to make a deadline.
Sometimes I can't think of a single thing to do, and sometimes I feel like I'm the only photographer in the world suffering the dreaded disease of "artist block."
Then there are those days when I feel like everyone in the world is conspiring against me and my success.
And on a really bad day, I'm just convinced that all the images I spew across the pages are the worst jumbles of uninteresting stuff to cross my screen.
When I'm feeling particularly un-photographer-like, I usually turn to my students for inspiration.
The creative process is a cocktail of instinct, skill, culture and a highly creative feverishness. It is not like a drug; it is a particular state when everything happens very quickly, a mixture of consciousness and unconsciousness, of fear and pleasure; it’s a little like making love, the physical act of love.
