"Uzbekistan: A Journey through Transoxania" is a Photographic Travelogue with commentary that covers most of Uzbekistan; Tashkent, Samarqand, Bukhara, Khiva, Karakalpakstan and the Ferghana Valley. Known to Alexander the Great as "Transoxania" (the land beyond the Oxus) the area has been settled for over three millenia, and dominated the Silk road for much of that time. The book details the monumental architecture, the natural beauty of the desert wastes and the high fertile valleys, and the people and culture of this meeting point of Turkish, Persian, and Russian culture.
