Matt Koller is a writer and photographer originally from Staten Island, New York. He grew up loving art and travel, so it's no surprise that after taking a gap year from his financial analyst job in NYC that he'd end up spending the better part of his 20s moving around the United States and beyond, taking photos of his adventures and learning more about the natural world.

He's worked as a ski photographer in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, a naturalist photography guide in Juneau, Alaska, a deckhand on a sailing boat in Maui, Hawai'i, and a photojournalist in Monterey, CA. He first left home to indulge some of his more obscure interests—including an interest in photography—and a desire to learn more about how people live.

Instead, he rekindled a childhood passion for the natural world and forged a new career for himself as a writer and photographer focusing on environmental communications.
