Photography Book Now Enters Final Month for Submissions

Enter your photography book before July 15, 2010 for a chance to win the $25,000 grand prize

San Francisco, Calif.— June 29, 2010— Photography Book Now, the international juried competition that recognizes the most creative, most innovative, and finest photography books, is issuing a final call for entries before the submission deadline on July 15, 2010. Now in its third year, Photography Book Now celebrates the very best in self-published photography books and the photographers behind them.

With only a couple of weeks left to enter the competition, photographers are invited to submit their entries up to 11:59pm Pacific on July 15, 2010, at http://www.photographybooknow.com.

Prizes will be awarded to the most creative and innovative photography books in three categories – Fine Art, Editorial, and Portfolio. There is an exciting line-up of prizes for those interested in entering the competition, including the $25,000 grand prize. The grand prize and first-prize winners will also receive a private portfolio review with members of the judging panel in the category in which they submitted.

In addition, the finalists’ books in each category will become part of the permanent collections at the International Center for Photography, the Annenberg Space for Photography and the George Eastman House.

Photography Book Now is presented by Blurb, the creative publishing and marketing platform that enables anyone to design, publish, share and sell bookstore-quality books. Sponsors include Hewlett Packard, Sony Electronics, Lensbaby, CENTER, Wacom, B&H Photo, Digital Photo Pro Magazine, X-Rite, Induro, Tenba and Maine Media Workshops, New Page Corp., American PHOTO, Photo District News and British Journal of Photography.

More than 2,000 photography books from over 50 countries were submitted to the 2009 Photography Book Now competition. Rafal Milach, a professional photographer from Warsaw, Poland, was awarded the $25,000 grand prize for his project, "Black Sea of Concrete," a book-length presentation of shots of the Ukraine during winter, capturing the raw landscape and examining the lasting impact of Soviet control on the Ukraine.

An important aspect of Photography Book Now is bringing together the photography community. Later in the year, there will be an awards celebration in New York followed by meet-ups in Los Angeles, Seattle, London, Berlin, Paris, Toronto and Rome where attendees will celebrate outstanding books and have a chance to meet some of the most influential figures in the field.

Photography books that have already been submitted to the 2010 competition are available to browse and to buy in the Photography Book Now Bookstore at www.blurb.com/bookstore/.
