Acerca del libro
The images presented in Obeisance are the product of a profound and deliberate collaboration between photographer and model, wherein technical rigor and artistic intuition converge. Through the disciplined manipulation of light, exposure, and multiple in-camera exposures, each frame attains a layered complexity—an interplay of luminosity, gestural nuance, and compositional precision.
This body of work reconsiders conventional notions of the nude by foregrounding abstraction and selective focus. The resultant forms—curves rendered as calligraphic lines, planes of shadow that dissolve into the ethereal—invite a reconsideration of the feminine not as a fixed archetype but as an ever-shifting constellation of strength, vulnerability, and resilience.
In these photographs, the fragile economy of movement—poise, balance, gesture—becomes integral to the image’s spatial logic. Each multiple-exposure frame operates as a visual stanza, a poetics of presence that expands the discursive field of portraiture. The model’s embodiment and the photographer’s gaze coalesce, yielding images that transcend literal representation and occupy a liminal space between figuration and abstraction.
Obeisance calls on the viewer to engage with the subtle dialectic between form and formlessness, surface and depth, presence and absence. It is a sustained meditation on the expressive potential of the photographic medium and on the capacity of collaborative practice to reveal the manifold dimensions of human embodiment.
