The Gelman Stained Glass museum is located in San Juan, Texas. This is near Brownsville and close to the border with Mexico. The museum has over 170 antique windows representing the most renowned manufacturers of stained glass art, including Tiffany Studios, John LaFarge, Lamb Studios, Mary Tillinghast and Franz Meyer. This is a place for the preservation of sacred art and a place to experience spiritual ambiance the windows were originally designed to create. Notable Tiffany Works: Te Deum 40x50 feet depicting the Old and New Testament; Beatitudes Series - Portraying angels as stern warriors and loving guardians presenting the Beatitudes sayings attributed to Jesus. These windows adorned a private mausoleum. The Tiffany Chapel in the North Chapel. Cox, Buckely, Sons Co. "Christ Knocking at the Door": From the biblical passage of Revelation 3:20, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, then I will enter his house." Biblical Themes and subjects: New Testament Scenes: The Nativity; Matthew 21:1-11; Matthew 2:1, Luke 7:38, The Resurrection and Ascension. Saints and Religious Figures: Archangel Michael, St. Luke The Evangelist, St. Therese of Lisieux. The museum's floor plan follows a cruciform layout of the Latin cross and is dividend into three gallery spaces.
