Martha Rogers Zimiles is a third generation member of a five generation Mac Mahan Island family. Her career in the arts includes many years as a printmaker, fiber artist, designer and author. In 1976 she published
A Treasury of Needlework Designs for Van Nostrand Reinhold Company. With her husband she is co-author of two books and several articles on folk art and architecture.

Inspired by her investigation of the life of Saint Cuthbert and the challenge of giving it visual expression, she is currently engaged in the effort to bring her spiritual life and artistic talents together through the ancient art of icon painting.
