I have had a fairly extraordinary life. Not lucky, mind you, but extraordinary just the same. I am married to my best friend Todd, who is a jazz critic. I have two wonderful sons, one of whom is disabled with a birth defect called spina bifida. In addition to teaching English and journalism, I help run a local sled hockey team. I have friends who are Paralympians, and I have seen, touched, and tried on (but not earned) medals from Salt Lake City, Torino, Vancouver, Beijing, and London. I have four cats who either love me or can't be bothered to acknowledge my existence, depending on whether or not they like the food in their dish. I have touched the Stanley Cup, so I guess I'll never win it. My favorite food is pumpkin, or maybe it's chocolate. I was a fine arts major in college. I play the flute, my two sons play the trombone and trumpet respectively, and my husband plays many instruments. It makes for a very funny ensemble when the family plays Christmas carols together.
