John Reese was born in Salisbury, Rhodesia, now called Harare, Zimbabwe. His upbringing amid Africa's wildlife contributed to his appreciation for nature. Some of John's photographic records can be viewed at reeseresources.smugmug.com. John and his wife and children moved from South Africa to Texas in 1991. That turned John's attention to American nature, which resulted in the "Glimpses" series, beginning with Austin and Corpus Christi, Texas, and a similar book about Arkansas, One Spring Morning.
