Alex spent several years photographing performance. Work from this period can be seen in art books such as We Love You (Booth Clibborn), Leigh Bowery (Violette Editions) & in periodicals i-D, Dance Theatre Journal, Gazelland, together with widely exhibited work (see link for details).

In separate yet connected practice, Hanson developed a series of 'post performance' concept characters, a multi media 'photo related family' (alexcalledsimon projects, including Susan Tripod) for photo series, installations, live events & publications (ongoing).

Archive photos (1994,95), alongside interview text, published in Alexander McQueen: Fashion Visionary, by Judith Watt (Goodman Books, 2012). Recent work, from series An Emerge (Office), shown at Galleria Uno+Uno, Milan (Oct 2012). Hanson curated a collective test and display site event for Satellite Festival '12 and an interdisciplinary group show at UCA, he finishes research and studies there in Summer 2013. He is based in London.
