At the height of the Los Angeles punk rock movement photographer Vincent R. Ramirez captured the musical transformation and cultualization of a city and its people that forever changed the face of the music industry. The city of Los Angeles with its Hollywood movie stars, sunny beaches, Disneyland and serial killers laid the background for punk music with its late night clubs in questionable neighborhoods and L.A.P.D. violence. What emerged was a thriving underground punk rock music scene and the DIY ethic. These photos tell of the photographer's eyewitness account as a fan of the music, and the transformation and cultural impact on the Los Angeles music scene.
