After dedicating 33 years to public school education as a teacher, coach, counselor, high school principal, and assistant superintendent, Dr. Beerman journeyed to Utila to complete her PADI SCUBA Instructor certification. Her three-week adventure on the island motivated her to retire early and pursue her dual passions: SCUBA diving and underwater photography.

She has completed over 800 dives around Utila at over 60 dive sites, and her photographs have won accolades from divers around the world. Her photos have been published in a major travel guide and in course materials for an international marine life organization.

Although Dr. Beerman is officially retired, she makes time to teach SCUBA to students who need one-on-one attention and underwater photography to divers who want to improve their skills.
