Dave McIntire is an Emeritus Professor at Oregon State University. His primary professional interests are aquatic ecology and phycology (the study of algae). Over a period of 40 years, Dave's research projects included studies at Crater Lake and Mount Rainier National Parks, the Columbia River, Oregon estuaries and farm ponds, and controlled experiments with laboratory streams.

After his retirement from teaching in 1995, Dave expanded his interest in landscape photography. For the past 20 years, he has photographed the landscape, mostly in black and white film, but more recently in color, as digital imaging and printing have provided photographers with a craft that was unimaginable three decades ago. In his photographs, Dave tries to reveal meaningful patterns in the complexities of our natural environment, so the viewer can connect with the image at different levels of visual resolution.
