Pat Babcock

Patricia “Pat” (Wrede) Babcock comes from ­pioneer families. Her Grandfather Robert Geis was at St. ­Michael in 1897 and Circle City in 1898. Her great-­grandfather Joseph Dahl was at Skagway and Circle City in 1898. He died on the S.S. Islander returning to Seattle in 1901. Minnie, his eldest ­daughter, came to Circle City to settle her father’s estate. While there she met and ­married Robert Geis, who was in the saloon and hotel business. They came into ­Fairbanks in June 1903. Their daughter, Dorothy was born in Fairbanks and married Ray Wrede in 1939. Pat was born in Seattle in 1941, coming to Fairbanks at the age of 1.5 years. She graduated from the University of Alaska in Fairbanks in 1964 with a Bachelor of Arts in ­zoology and ­minors in art and ­anthropology.
Pat joined the Pioneers of Alaska Auxiliary in 1971. Pat, a life member, has served as Historian, Chaplain and 1st Vice President of Igloo 8 and Treasurer of the Pioneer Park Board.
