Mindful Classrooms consists of five different facets of mindfulness: Stretching, Breathing, Listening, Seeing, and Eating. The main core of Mindful Classrooms consists of Stretching and Breathing. I recommend doing those at the start of each day for 3-5 minutes total. If another time of the day works better for you and your class, that’s fine too. I would try to make that time consistent to help you and your students benefit the most from daily mindfulness. The other facets (Listening, Seeing, and Eating) can be done during transitions and mealtime or however best suits you and your class. I highly recommend you participate in these mindfulness activities along with your students. I have found it to have a positive impact on teachers as well as students when it comes to self-awareness, self-regulation, responsible decision-making, social awareness, and relationship skills. A fun and empowering option is to have students lead the mindfulness activities for you and your students.
