michael menconi

Menconi’s journey in art started at an early age in grade school. While Menconi was in high school he won a Key Award for Jewelry Design, from the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.


His interest in glass began in 1995, leading him to Seattle, Washington. There he took classes with Daryl Smith and Aaron Thane Tate, two of Seattle's up and coming glass artists of that time. Shortly thereafter, Menconi studied and worked with glass for five years at The Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York.


In 1997, Menconi was privileged an invite by the Director of Development and Education of The Corning Museum of Glass Studio to a lecture about modern glass design, by guest lecturer, Maestro Lino Tagliapietra. Menconi was honored by the opportunity to observe Lino's working styles as he produced a limited edition of pieces for the Steuben Crystal Factory during the following weeks.
