Leonard was born NJ on October 19, 1924 in Camden, NJ and was a member of the 1941 graduating class of Camden Catholic High School.

He enlisted into the military in August 1943 and was sent overseas in January of 1945. He was a decorated war veteran receiving five service medals: an Air Medal, an Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, a Good Conduct Medal and a WWII Victory Medal.

His professional career included management positions with RCA, where he pioneered the first cable television systems, Jerrold Electronics, and retired with Sammons Communications-Time-Warner Cable in Dallas in 1986.

He was a poet, songwriter, composer and singer. He was a bible scholar and historian in the Little Rock Bible Study program and his liturgical research and reflections were posted daily on the Mecca Family web site.

He married Ruth Elaine Yeager and together they raised their eight children. He has twenty grand children and eight great grand children.
