Lynn A. Nelson joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter—Day Saints in 1978, and departed for a mission to Bolivia in 1979. With thirty years of military service, fifteen years of teaching experience, and extensive travel around the world, he found time to marry the former Melody Ann Jensen of El Paso, Texas and raise a family of four children. His two sons served missions in Texas and Spain, and all four of his children married in a LDS temple. He currently serves on active duty with the US Army in Germany.
