David Berry spent a lifetime as a pilot in the Royal Air Force, joining at 18 and retiring aged 58. He did have a three-year break when he completed a degree in Education. This whetted his appetite for writing and, in retirement he has become a modestly successful author, freelance writer and publisher. The other pre-occupation is travel with an emphasis on motorcaravanning.

Valerie, David's wife of 53 years and counting, mothered four children. When the youngest was of school age, Valerie started a two-year course for a Teacher's Certificate. Subsequently, in a large village primary school, she progressed from probationary teacher to teacher to deputy headteacher to headteacher! Her major hobby is needlecraft, particularly quilting and tapestry.

They have been motorcaravanners for over 18 years and have travelled extensively in the UK with overseas trips to the USA, Canada, New Zealand, France, Spain and Germany.
