I have been living in Japan's ancient capital, Kyoto, for 25+ years. I am the founding editor and art director of Kyoto Journal, a non-profit all-volunteer quarterly on Asian culture, that has been promoting creative "heartwork" for the past 24 years (www.kyotojournal.org). We are now transitioning to digital editions and a new website. In 2009 I curated a show of peace photography, "PeaceWorks," that featured 38 photographers at the Yokohma Zaim Art Center. Among the books I have designed are Japanese Landscape Gardens, The Sakuteiki (both by Tuttle) and Zen and Kyoto.
