Founded in 1943, the Waterford Foundation, Inc. is one of America’s first community-based historic preservation organizations with the mission to preserve the historic buildings and open spaces of the National Historic Landmark District of Waterford, Virginia; and through education, to increase the public’s knowledge of life and work in an early American rural community.

Jim Hanna has enjoyed photography since he was a kid. Over the years, through study and experience, the medium has become a means to adventure and insight through landscapes, environmental portraits, aerials and panoramas in the U. S. and overseas. Currently, his work focuses primarily on an appreciation of the ecology, heritage and sustainable development in and around Loudoun County, Virginia.
