Left the Navy and came back to Denton in the summer of '81. Enrolled into NT that summer and spent a lot of time at Benny's and hanging w/ Garon Ashley,owner.Garon ran Benny's from '79-'82.A man named Tony reopened and ran Benny's till Dec of '83.I took over in Jan '84 and renamed it to The Library (named after a disco I went to w/ my GF Celine Burrow in Portsmouth, NH on Maine's southern border/coastline).The Library opened for business in Feb '84 and ran for almost five years.Still in my 20's & fresh out of the Navy/Marine, The Library was my first business and remains a seminal event in my life. In '89 I sold the bar,finished school and traveled the country till life's journey led me to Colorado in '91.Lots of great memories of a special time in Denton,TX.I have a long hx at 1210 W. Hickory first working at the"Sweet Thing" candy/cream shop circa '72-'73 and knew the orig owners of the Porch,John Leaks,John changed name to Benny's. *Best wishes and love to all who were there
