Born in Pittsburgh PA, I received my BFA in Visual Arts from Boston University in 1975. My design career has taken me from its start with the University of Pittsburgh, to Pittsburgher Magazine, Atlantic City magazine, a PR firm in Washington DC, and finally the National Geographic Society divisions of Educational Media, School Publishing, and Kid's Books. After nearly 30 years, I retired from National Geographic at the end of 2015. Currently, I am freelancing on very select book projects. I have lived in Washington DC since 1983.
