Jan Koehler is a social anthropologist at the Free University Berlin. His main regional focus is the Caucasus, Central Asia and Afghanistan and thematically on empirical research on social conflict and collective violence. His interest in the impact of external state-building and development interventions links his academic interests to more practical questions of applied social sciences.
