| Mi biografía | I first began taking pictures shortly after my father passed away. It was a way for me to process the event but it was also an open-ended homage to him though I did not realize it at the time. I was in college a the time in and my circle of friends included artists, poets, performers and potheads. It was the perfect environment to explore creativity without any judgments getting in the way. I shot mostly black and white back then, and in retrospect it seems that I saw the world that way. Years later I am still in this love affair with image-making - now making it official at the ICP/Bard MFA program in NYC. My work has changed a lot - transitioning from personal, street and documentary photography to more open-ended works that explore memory, indeterminacy and the unconscious. |
