Symons is a freelance writer and photographer who has the ability to find the gems within the picture and story. When the crowd goes one way, she's often seen wandering off in the other direction.
Symons adopted a rescue dog a few years back and after covering numerous events for the newspaper she was freelancing for, the dog events had special meaning -- she couldn't seem to get them off her mind. The Barking Journal is her way of of helping dogs who are looking for their forever homes and at the same time, giving dog owners a place to keep their own daily memories tucked away in a book.
