Mikael Carstanjen was born one hundred yards from the Baltic Sea. He immigrated to the United States in 1950. He is a third generation artist following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather.
Fifteen years ago he began to experiment with digital photography and digital printmaking. His photography is a starting point for the images he wants to create. Working on the cutting edge of “digital painting” he brings to this new work the dedication of a craftsman and his highest artistic ideals as an artist.
When you couple his technical knowledge of the computer and his extensive fine arts background the results are superb images known for their elegance of composition and luminous beauty.
