I started out in nursing school in 1968 in Canton, Ohio. I practiced it for 7 years but gave it up because I made more money working construction. I lived in 5 states (Ohio, Kentucky, Tenn., Florida and Ariz.) before settling in NC in 1982. In the past 26 years I have had a restaurant, a house painting/yard care business and a retail gift shop (the Bird Barn for 14 years). I opened Mill Creek Gallery & Framing in 2004 in order to pursue my first love, photography, in a professional way. I now sell my photographs in my gallery in the form of notecards, magnets, calendars, matted or framed prints, and now a book. I am doing what I love in a community that I love, and I feel very fortunate.
In my 26 years here I have been deeply involved in environmental conservation work. That and the sheer beauty of this area inspire my photography. Over the years I have tried to document not only the beauty but the important places and structures in Highlands before they are lost to us forever.
