I took up photography as a hobby in 2012, prompted by the purchase of a quality camera and lenses from my son, Chris.

The purchase was a whim. Chris had travelled from Dubai to vacation with us in Canada. Of course he had brought his camera, but told me he intended to sell it. When I was looking at the camera, Chris noticed my interest and said "Dad, this is not a point-and-shoot camera! If you are going to buy this camera you will need to take a photography course." I replied "Well, maybe I will."

Since then I have taken many photography courses. I purchased a Macbook Pro, Adobe Lightroom, and a bunch of other gear. I recently purchased a second camera with more lenses.

Needless to say I am hooked. I have taken (and edited) thousands of pictures and have become quite passionate about photography. I am continually learning and practicing new techniques. I couldn't have picked a better hobby for my retirement years!
