Clark James Mishler, Freelance Photographer

Trained as a graphic designer at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, Clark James Mishler came to Alaska in 1971 where he worked as graphic designer. In 1977 Clark moved to Washington D.C. and worked as a layout editor for the National Geographic Magazine until his return to Alaska in 1979. In 1989 Clark switched his focus from graphic design to photography. In the years since, Mr. Mishler’s images have appeared in numerous regional and national magazines. Clark’s recent book: Anchorage, Life at the Edge of the Frontier was recently received a Gold award for Best Non Fiction Book in the NW Region by the Independent Publishers Association.

Mr. Mishler currently lives in Anchorage, Alaska with his wife, Mitzi. He is a member of the American Society of Media Photographers, Alaska Chapter and the National Press Photographer’s Association.
