Peggy Purcell

San Miguel de Allende, Mexico
Acerca de

Peggy Purcell has come a long way from her roots—from a farm in Indiana to putting down new roots as a poet in Mexico. This, her third collection, covers 1929 to the present, combining two previous books with added material for a more complete autobiographical story.
A single mother of four, Purcell found her métier in college administration at Bennington College and kept moving, to Boston University, Maine, and in 1993, to San Miguel de Allende. She was writing memoir episodes when she fell in love with the immanence and rhythm of poetry. She developed a poetic style for the poignant stories to stand alone but tell a larger story when read in sequence. Her first chapbook, "Roots and Seeds: Tales from a farmer’s daughter", was published by Pudding House Publications in 2010. The second, Breaking Ground, is currently being published at Pudding House.
