Born in Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico, May 22.

Studied photography at the Visual Studies Workshop, Rochester,
N. Y. (1976-1977)

Was awarded a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation fellowship (1994).

Has published three books of her b&w photographs: Los Velos Transparentes, las Transparencias Veladas (1988), Mexican Passion/Pasión Mexicana (2002) and Melodrama barroco (2007), as well as four books of her color work in 2008: Fragmentos , Visiones paralelas and El color del cristal. In 2009 published independently the book ese extraño mundo de las imágenes.

She has exhibited in numerous one-woman and collective shows in Mexico, the United States, China and Europe. Her work is in the collection of several museums: Visual Studies Workshop, California Museum of Photography, Museum of Fine Arts, in Houston, TX, Southeast Museum of Photography and Southwestern and Mexican Photography (Southwest Texas State University), and the Museum of Art of Guangdong, China, among others.
