My study of limestone pavement across the north of England for my PhD forms the context for my photographic work. The striking contrasts between the rounded contours of the geomorphology combine with the delicate fronds of the ferns hidden in the grikes and form a natural intrigue which I have digitally captured. I feel that having the scientific understanding of this rare and wonderful habitat brings an unusual and special quality to the images that I have included in my book.
