I was born 1960 in Idar-Oberstein, Germany, grew up near Cologne, lived in Southern Germany and Switzerland and moved to London in 1991, initially for 2 years only. Currently I live in Macclesfield, Cheshire.
I’m a biologist and my interest in photography started as a student, when I was participating in field trips all around the Mediterranean. Initially I used a whole range of Minolta cameras, but changed over to Nikon and now own a range of digitial cameras.
My main focus of photography has shifted somewhat from plants to landscape, but I still like travelling a lot and do it extensively. I try to get a trip to Africa once a year, so I can take wildlife photographs, although found on the last one, that there are not many elephants on Kilimanjaro. Over the last years I’ve also toured through North America, Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand and took the odd European trip. Having moved home to the north of England I spend weekends roaming the Peak District or Yorkshire Dales.
