She is a Certified Graduate Remodeler, a Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist and a Certified Green Professional. She is the Past Chairperson of the Raleigh-Wake County Home Builders Association.

Although New York holds her birth certificate, Peggy moved to North Carolina in her early childhood. She attended Wake Technical Institute and worked at the North Carolina State Employees’ Credit Union for almost 10 years, earning her Certified Credit Union Executive designation (the hallmark of professional credit union achievement). This hands-on experience in management and operational techniques led Peggy to assist her husband Dave get Quality Home Improvements by David J. Mackowski, Inc. (later to become Quality Design & Construction, Inc.) off the ground on the best possible footing.
