John Daly was born in Eugene, Oregon. Within his first year he became a Californian when his family moved to the San Francisco Bay Area.

Daly attended the University of California San Francisco where he graduated with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Creative Writing and Sociology. After college, John began travels that would lead him to more than 50 countries and develop a strong interest in photography. He lived in Japan for more than a year where he studied Aikido, Cha No U (Tea Ceremony) and poetry. A few years later he lived and worked as a teacher for two years in Lima, Peru.

John has photographed in both Color and Black and White, using mainly Nikons. For the last five years he has moved to the digital format with Canon equipment, currently with the Canon EOS D5 Mark II.

John’s photographs have been exhibited in numerous individual and group exhibitions, including recent shows in Berkeley, Santa Cruz and the Wild and Scenic Film Festival in Nevada City, CA
