John Hasyn was born in Sheffield, England and moved to Canada in 1986. He spent 20 years working as an investment analyst and portfolio manager. Since 2002, he has worked as an independent consultant while pursuing his passion for photography. In 2005, John won second place in the medical category at the International Photography Awards for his work on the elimination of leprosy in India for the World Health Organization. In 2006, John began working with the National Inuit Youth Council and the Embrace Life Council, helping design and facilitate workshops in leadership and multi-media for Inuit youth throughout Nunavut. A selection of John's photographs from Nunavut are included in a permanent collection at the Museum of Social Anthropology in Leipzig, Germany.

John lives in Toronto, Canada.
