Acerca del libro
Inside each of us is a second self, another being, a shadow self. It contains everything in us that is unconscious, repressed, and denied. It offers an array of mirrors for the parts of ourselves we do not like. Shadows and mirrors are divine opposites, yet complimentary means of perception.
An internal monologue of truth and fiction, this work is a cathartic release of my emotions. I am performing inside of the frame (photographically and literally) through influence from Jung’s theory of the “shadow self”. I am communicating with myself in the frame, all the while trying to photograph my struggle.
By incorporating mirrors into my work, I am collapsing layers of space. More often than not, my figure is blurred to furthermore lend to the illusion of the space. These cinematic glimpses are my own fabricated reality using reflections of myself to distort the line between consciousness and perception.
